Learning about history!

Good morning,

Today is another great day and the sun is shining.  Today is February 1st the beginning of a new month.  I’ve decided to start sharing tidbits of history every day.  On this day in 1884, the first portion, or fascicle, of the Oxford English Dictionary (OED), considered the most comprehensive and accurate dictionary of the English language, is published. Today, the OED is the definitive authority on the meaning, pronunciation, and history of over half a million words, past and present.   Also on this day in 1790 was the first session of the U.S Supreme Court.

I think sharing stories and history is very important.   Today people are bombarded with social media and the media’s agenda.  We need to recall what happened in history.   We have to remember history so we can protect our future generations and educate them on what happened in the past.  If we don’t share the history with our kids we put ourselves at risk as humanity.   I know that in the past, I’ve said the past is the past and we have to focus on today.  Unforetanetly things like war and human genocide need to be discussed.  Awful people that harm humanity needs to never be forgotten and they need to made examples of.   Sometimes history can be painful to share.  Like they say without pain there is no gain.  We need to gain more good people that want to make a change in our world!

The past couple months I have been broadening my horizons and opening up my mind to learning more.  I have been learning to be different from how I used to be.  Growing up while in school I would daydream. I think all the way through College I would try to figure out how to make a quick buck instead of really following the process of learning.  Throughout the past 15 years of my career, I have learned a lot from being part of the fast-paced business environment. I’ve learned many valuable lessons in business, supply chain, finance and client relationship development.  In the past few months, I started to really focus on learning other things that will make more well rounded.  I’ve started to read for pleasure to learn more about people and this wonderful world we live in.  I started to learn more about how we as humans all deal with the things we need to work on, no matter where you come from or who you are.  No one individual is perfect.  We all have bad days, but the key is how do we transition from the bad days?  Do you let one bad day keep you down and spill into the next? I don’t! Well, the truth is I really try not too.  I try to utilize the tools I have been using the past couple months.  Every night when I go to bed I quiet my mind and leave everything that happened that day.  Sometimes it’s more difficult than others, but I really try to.  It really makes for an overall better way of living.  I try to solve my issues the same day.  Today try quieting your mind and thinking positive thoughts.  Every day you really get to start over.   Today start over, think of your self as an artist with a blank canvas.   You can make/create whatever you want!!!  Today create joy and peace in your life.  You have the ability to do whatever you want.  I believe in you!!!
