I wake up every day at 6:30 and the first thing I do is check my email to see what kind of work issues I’m going to have to deal with. Then I have to get myself ready in 15 minutes. Then we proceed to get the kids ready for school. The whole process doesn’t leave much time for me to think or breath. What I’ve now decided to do to change my mornings is to get up 15-20 mins earlier. I’m doing this so I can take some time to breathe and be mindful of my day and my interactions right from the start. I feel that this will help me find more balance in my day earlier. Life is going a mile a minute throughout the day. I’m usually going from one task to another like most of you are also. I’m excited about trying something new that will make every day so much better. I’m not just going to rely on coffee. The mind is a powerful thing. I’m excited to use it more these days.
The weekend is almost upon us. This weekend I’m looking forward to being together with my family and disconnecting from the busy week we all had. Yesterday was a very busy day. I was running around from one thing to next, but the great thing is I found 30 minutes in my day to read a new book. I’m reading The Book of Joy.
This book has made me reflect on a lot of things in my own life.
No dark fate determines the future – we do. Each day and each moment, we are able to create and recreate our lives and the very quality of human life on our planet.
As we discover more joy, we can face suffering in a way that ennobles rather than embitters. We have hardship without becoming hard. We have heartbreak without being broken.
These are just some of the positive messages this book has in it. I look forward to finishing this book and taking away all the positivity that I feel it will bestow on to me. This week has had many ups and downs, but that usually how life is. In my search for more balance, I feel that each day I’m getting closer to it. I’m adding more things to keep my calm and keep my feeling fulfilled. I’ve been creating new opportunities for myself to improve. Some of these things have been reading, exercising, meditating, not picking my fingers, eating better, or having more patience with people. I feel that if I can really focus on doing a majority of these things on a daily basis I will have a lot of balance and calmness in my life. It will help me deal with many things in my day and fewer things will feel stressful.
What will be your routine to find your balance?
