Life sometimes throws you a curveball

Good morning,

I hope everyone is having a great Monday.  Here in Chicago, the sun is shining and the sky is blue.  What more can you ask for?  This week is a short week and an exciting week because of Thanksgiving.   Thanksgiving is the beginning of the holiday season of being together with family and friends.   It’s such a nice season to reflect and see all the good that life has brought to you.  I’m super excited for this time to spend with my wife and kids.

Yesterday was the first time in 47 days I have not written something to share.  I had a wonderful time in Nashville.   I have a lot to report regarding Nashville and the game.  The waitress that we met at the restaurant showed up and watched the game with us.  The weather during the game was not the best.  Actually, the game got delayed due to rain, thunder, and lighting.   It was supposed to start at 6:30 but got started at 7pm.   The weather channel said the rain was supposed to end at 7.   They were wrong, good thing I prepared and stopped by a Rite-Aid to buy a poncho.   I am so happy that I did.   This is what it looked like for the game time.

The rain lasted about 45-50 mins.  The funny thing is that the night before the weather at night was 67 and perfect.  The night of the game it was 45 and windy/rainy.  Mizzou quickly scored two touchdowns and quickly went ahead.  By the end of the first half, they were up 35 to zero.   That’s when I made a decision to leave the game and watch inside the Marriot right by the stadium.  I walked into the hotel and it was like being at a Mizzou Alumni event.  It was warm and had a lot of great energy.  I quickly walked over to the Starbucks and got myself a hot drink.   Nothing like warming up from rain and cold by having a hot chocolate.   For the next thirty minutes, I sat there taking in the feeling of peace and calm.  After about an hour of being there, my group was ready to go back to our hotel.   The Tigers were now up 45-17 and they had the game pretty much locked in.     The whole weekend I stayed true to my not drinking journey.

The last time I ate was at 4pm so by 10 I wanted something to eat.  Half the group decided to go to Waffle House, so I decided to tag along.   As I walked into Wafflehouse, I quickly thought this wasn’t the best idea.   What was I going to eat here that was healthy and light?  I looked at the menu and struggled to make a decision.  I decided on egg whites and hash browns which in my mind wasn’t the worst option.   We got back to the hotel at 11:30, for some reason I could not fall asleep until almost 1am.   I really had a hard time sleeping because I didn’t feel so great.  When I got up in the morning, I know something was wrong.   To my surprise, I got food poisoning. Have you ever had food posing when you have to travel on an airplane?   It’s not fun at all.  I really struggled yesterday.   Last night I went to bed at 7:30 and woke up today at 6:30 feeling like a new man.  I feel a little weak but I’m ready for an amazing week.  I’m ready to be back to my journey of positivity.    Sometimes life throws you a curveball but you can bounce back.

I’m bouncing back today.
